After decades practicing law and serving on the San Mateo County Superior Court, I have decided to retire and allow voters to choose my successor. Having spent my career in these courtrooms, I care deeply about who will continue this important work.
I am proud to support Brian Donnellan.
Brian has spent more than two decades as a prosecutor in the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office, working daily in the very courtrooms he now seeks to serve. He is a seasoned trial attorney who has earned a reputation for professionalism, integrity and fairness. Judges see attorneys at their most challenging moments, and Brian has consistently demonstrated the temperament and judgment the bench requires.
He also has deep roots in San Mateo County — raised here, educated at Serra High School, and now raising his own family in this community. That connection matters. Judges make decisions that affect victims, defendants and families across our county, and understanding the community is essential.

The work of a trial judge demands courtroom experience, sound judgment and a commitment to fairness. After observing Brian over many years, I am confident he possesses these qualities.
