Recent Earthrise photos reminded us of being overwhelmed by that dramatic complete view of Earth from Apollo 17 in 1972. Thus, today, we are again shown that there are no borders, and there are no boundaries — even neighborhood lines and city limits are insignificant.
Talk about timing. Artemis II astronauts shared their awe and wonder as they observed our tiny planet from afar. As Astronaut Victor Glover observed: “We are all one people.”
But sadly, the world is now fighting wars, experiencing a climate crisis, and bickering over neighborhood issues. We lost the original 1972 message that changed our lives.
All of life as we know it depends on this one living system for our very survival. We are reminded that ALL IS ONE.
We have also been reminded that all of life is interconnected, interrelated and interdependent as another incredible picture of our global home has been sent from space.

As we pose enemies, argue over resources and NIMBY issues, both here at our local home and in other countries, innocents are killed, structures are destroyed and social support systems collapse. We will suffer together, long-term results of our misuse of power and disconnection from the beautiful creation.
The timing of this reminder seems very mysterious. Let’s treat it as a precious gift for all of humanity, for all of life. Now is the time to focus on this beautiful planet we call home.
