If you're like me, there are times during this holiday season when I wrack my brain over what to give someone. Exotic, few-of-a-kind gifts rarely fit within my budget. There are the much-advertised, perennially obvious gifts - a tie. The latest electronic toy. A kitchen gadget. But ties tend to multiply in the closet. Kitchen gadgets end up hidden away. And, I suspect that the child on the list who wants a video game would be better off with a book. Gift certificates? Better, but if that's the result of wracking my brains, it's a little embarrassing.

However, there's the kind of giving that satisfies. Giving with imagination. Giving with impact. The kind of giving that we do at Peninsula Community Foundation. For more than 40 years, Peninsula Community Foundation has partnered with hundreds of donors, nonprofit groups, and government agencies on the Peninsula and Silicon Valley to improve education, protect the environment, extend the reach of our community's cultural offerings, and bring health care to those who can't afford it.
