World Cup soccer continues at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium Wednesday and Caltrain is available before the 5 p.m. kickoff between United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Tens of thousands of fans rode Caltrain to and from the first five locally held World Cup matches and World Cup events throughout the Bay Area, with Caltrain seeing an approximate 20% increase in ridership on game days.
Caltrain will have service every 30 minutes all day as well as its limited and express service from 3-8 p.m. From the Mountain View Station, riders can connect directly to VTA light rail service and ride to the stadium. Caltrain is providing additional service for the match with two additional southbound trains heading to the game and extra northbound trains to ensure that fans can get home after the match. The 904 will depart San Francisco Station at 11:40 a.m. and arrive at Mountain View Station at 12:39 p.m., and the 906 will depart San Francisco Station at 1:40 p.m. and arrive at Mountain View Station at 2:39 p.m. The last northbound train of the evening will depart Mountain View Station at 11:48 p.m., while the last southbound train of the evening will depart at 1:04 a.m.
Fan marches have been planned for Wednesday, with the Bosnia and Herzegovina march gathering from 1-2 p.m. near the Lick Mill VTA Station, and the US march gathering from noon-3 p.m. near the Great America VTA Station.
Open alcoholic beverages are allowed on trains until 9 p.m. during regular service but disruptive passengers will be asked to leave Caltrain property.
Also, you can take advantage of the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition's free bike valet at Levi's. Get off at Lawrence and take a short ride on the San Tomas Aquino Trail. Much faster than taking VTA.
