An AirTag in a car stolen from the 300 block of North Delaware Street led police to it hidden under a car cover in the area of Marina Court and Day Avenue, and two arrests, according to San Mateo police.
At about 6:41 a.m., San Mateo police said officers responded to the location on the report of a stolen vehicle, which the reporting party said had a concealed Apple AirTag, which was pinging where it was later found.
A MacBook and other property were also reported stolen. Police identified the suspects, men in their 20s from San Mateo and San Jose, and arrested them at 12:13 p.m. in a silver Mercedes. Police recommend AirTag-like devices and concealing them within personal property as it can aid police investigations and help deter theft.
