A San Mateo man was arrested for physically attacking an 83-year-old while he was walking home from Central Park on the 700 block of Laurel Avenue Saturday night, according to police.
At about 7:34 p.m. April 11, officers were called to the location and found the victim with visible injuries to his face and head. Two witnesses saw the suspect flee the scene and enter a nearby apartment building. The man was taken to the hospital where he is recovering.
A police dispatcher was able to locate a possible suspect associated with the apartment complex who fit the description given by witnesses. Identified as Quinn Johns, officer’s familiar with him made contact and were able to speak with him. Ultimately, both witnesses were able to confirm Johns had been the subject they witnessed run from the attack and video security footage. While the footage did not capture the actual assault, it did show Johns to be in the area at the time. Johns was arrested, transported and booked into San Mateo County Jail, according to police.
