A fatal shooting by a Daly City officer Wednesday afternoon is under investigation by the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office, Daly City police said.
The officer contacted people in a vehicle on the 700 block of Niantic Avenue just before 2 p.m., police said and during the interaction fired his service weapon, striking an unidentified man.
Officers provided medical aid to the man before he was taken to a local trauma center, where he died from his injuries, police said.
An officer received a nonlife-threatening injury, police said.
Further details about the case were not immediately available.
The San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office will lead the investigation into the shooting, as outlined in the San Mateo County Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol, police said.
