The San Carlos Airport is holding an open house style public meeting Thursday to inform the community about a new federally funded noise study and explain how it differs from a separate, earlier aircraft disturbance evaluation, according to county officials.

The study is expected to be completed in 18 to 24 months. The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors will receive final recommendations for consideration and after its approval the final study will be sent to the FAA for its approval. As part of the process, San Mateo County — which owns and operates the airport — will hold four workshops and Thursday night’s public hearing. The meeting is an open house format allowing attendees to drop in anytime, according to county officials.
