Twenty-eight local organizations were honored and awarded funding for their contributions to the people in the Peninsula Health Care District during a ceremony Jan. 30.
The district serves the residents of San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo, half of Foster City and the southeast corner of South San Francisco. The ceremony was a celebration of collaboration and impact, with leaders from PHCD and the 28 honorees in attendance, including representatives from the Bay Area Community Health Advisory Council, Burlingame RiteCare Childhood Language Center, Peninsula Family YMCA.
A total of $1,265,039 in grants was awarded to these 28 organizations to support critical initiatives in three key areas: Health Aging Across the Life Course, Preventive Health, Mental and Behavioral Health.
This year’s funding cycle represents a historic increase in the Community Grants Program budget, marking the first such increase since 2007. Dr. Larry Cappel, chair of the Peninsula Health Care District Board of Directors, emphasized the importance of the expanded funding.
“With this increased budget, we can provide even more support to organizations whose unique expertise ensures a comprehensive, coordinated approach to improving health outcomes for everyone in the District,” Cappel said.
