An Oakland resident who was on probation was arrested in Millbrae on suspicion of a burglary earlier this week, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.
On Tuesday, just before noon, deputies responded to the 100 block of Millbrae Avenue on a report of a suspicious person after a caller said a man had entered a vacant commercial building. Upon arrival, deputies found an unsecured door and saw a person inside the building that they were not immediately able to locate, the Sheriff's Office said.
Drone and K-9 units were called to the scene but the man was not initially found. However, a search of the building revealed "multiple documents" allegedly identifying the suspect as Oakland resident Adeleke Ajayi, 33.
On Wednesday, deputies spotted Ajayi walking in the area of Linden Avenue and California Drive in Millbrae and an arrest was made. The Sheriff's Office said Ajayi was on parole out of Alameda County on theft-related charges.
Ajayi was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of felony second-degree burglary for allegedly entering a building illegally, but it was not immediately known if any items were taken.
