A 29-year-old Napa man has been charged with negligent discharge of a firearm for allegedly firing off 12 shots from a handgun at the Park Pointe Hotel in South San Francisco after drinking and smoking marijuana, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office said.
The man, Jose Basultollamas, has several prior felonies, including assault, grand theft and burglary. He has also been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, San Mateo County Deputy District Attorney Shin-Mee Chang said.
Basultollamas, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges, was allegedly detained after walking out of the ground floor of the hotel and fleeing from police, the DA’s Office said. The loaded gun was recovered from the hotel courtyard, according to the DA’s Office.
He has a preliminary hearing set for July 14 and bail set at $25,000.
