A man who was found dead at Gray Whale Cove State Beach in the Montara area of unincorporated San Mateo County on Valentine’s Day has been identified as Gilberto Martin Rodriguez, 53, of San Francisco, by the coroner.
The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office said paramedics declared the man dead at 1:08 a.m. Feb. 14. The cause of death hasn’t been identified yet as the coroner awaits the results of further testing.
San Mateo County sheriff’s deputies found Rodriguez with injuries on his face and upper body, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The death was ruled as a homicide, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The homicide occurred in California State Parks jurisdiction, and the Sheriff’s Office is helping with the investigation.
