Police in Hillsborough are looking for two males suspected of stealing a car, the department said Monday.
At approximately 3:37 a.m. Monday, an officer on patrol in Hillsborough saw what appeared to be a subject tampering with a black Nissan 370Z on the 700 block of Chateau Drive. Police said another vehicle was stopped in the road as well, a red Toyota Prius.
When the officer got out of his patrol car to investigate, the suspect fled on foot, initiating a chase. During the pursuit, another male entered the Prius and fled eastbound on Chateau Drive.
The Hillsborough Police Department began a multiagency response with neighboring departments and made an expanded search of the area, but neither the suspect on foot nor the Prius were located.
An investigation revealed that the Nissan had been stolen out of South San Francisco just 30 minutes before the officer spotted the suspects in Hillsborough. Detectives are going over surveillance footage and analyzing other evidence to try and find the suspects, the department said.
The suspects are described as male and about 5 feet 7 to 9 inches tall. The first male was wearing a black hoodie, gray sweatpants and black shoes. The second male wore a blue hoodie, gray sweatpants and black shoes.
Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Hillsborough Police Department at (650) 375.7470 or email Officer Chung at JChung@Hillsborough.net. For emergencies or crimes in progress, dial 911.
