City governments and school districts have such a big impact on the community that they need to work in tandem when it comes to education, and according to one organization, San Mateo County governments and schools have one of the best partnerships in the state.
The San Mateo Peninsula Partnership for Children, Youth and Families received the 2001 California Gold Community Award from California Community Partnership, a nonprofit, statewide program set up to help children and families through increased coordination with cities, counties and schools. The local organization scored in the top six of 94 applicants that entered a contest for the awards, which were distributed at a ceremony in Santa Barbara last week.
