Irene Franklin, MS, RD, from Sequoia Hospital presents "Eating on the Run,” discussing nutritious foods, eating well anywhere and creating your own personal action plan. If you don’t have enough time to prepare meals for yourself, or if you live alone, this lecture is for you. 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18. San Carlos Adult Community Center, 601 Chestnut St., San Carlos. The Community Center can be reached by bus or train via the San Carlos train station. From the train station walk four blocks up San Carlos Avenue to Chestnut Street. The Center is on the corner of San Carlos Avenue and Chestnut Streets.

Michael Brown

Astronomer Michael Brown, Ph.D., from the California Institute of Technology presents "How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had it Coming!” sharing the inside story of how he discovered "other Plutos” beyond Neptune, leading to the controversial demotion of Pluto from planet status. Brown will be signing books after the lecture. 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 in the Smithwick Theatre at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. Admission is free and the public is invited. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Arrive early to locate parking. A parking permit is required at all times. Purchase a permit for $2 from dispensers in any student lot.
