HEMET -- Hemet police say a fire that damaged an evidence building may be the seventh attack on police in six months. Lt. Duane Wisehart says Monday the someone set a fire in the building overnight, destroying some evidence and causing an undetermined amount of damage. Wisehart says investigators believe the fire is related to previous attacks on police in the city 90 miles southeast of Los Angeles. Those included filling a building with flammable natural gas vapors, rigging a booby trap that nearly shot an officer, placing an explosive device under an unmarked police car, and setting four city trucks on fire.
