Hillsdale 10, South City 2
Hillsdale senior Tommy Schultz belted a three-run home run in the first, and the Knights (8-5) went on to close out the South City Spring Class with a rout of the host Warriors (5-8). Senior Hugo Guzman got Hillsdale on the board in the first with an RBI double to right, before Schultz deposited one over the wall in center.
Relief pitcher Tyler Dang worked three perfect innings to earn the win, striking out a career-high six. Junior Jaden Minahan paced all batters with three hits for the Knights, adding an RBI and two runs. Yordonis Medina-Pineda and Adam Keith each drove in runs for South City.
San Mateo 9, Cupertino 6
With the game tied 3-3 in the sixth, San Mateo senior Christian Louie delivered an RBI single to right, and the Bearcats (8-4) went on to score six runs in the inning to claim the win at Cupertino (6-7). Louie enjoyed a big day, going 3 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Senior Tyce Copus added three hits with two RBIs and three runs, while on the mound the right-hander worked two innings of relief to earn the win.
Copus entered with the fourth inning with one run in and the bases loaded, as Hillsdale clung to a 2-1 lead with no outs. The tying run scored on a throwing error, but Copus bounced back to strike out the side and strand the go-ahead run at third.
In the fifth, Copus struck out the first two batters, before allowing back-to-back singles to Bestul and Lin. The next batter struck out, but a dropped third strike allowed Cupertino to load the bases with two outs. Copus buckled down and escaped the jam with another strikeout, his fourth of the inning, and his seventh in two innings of work.
Miramonte 5, Capuchino 2
Miramonte-Orinda (9-4) scored three in the first and two more in the second, and pitchers Jonah Imberg and Tres Buster did the rest to hand Capuchino (10-4) a non-league road loss. Junior Jacob Zayac paced the Mustangs with two hits and an RBI. Imberg earned the win, allowing two runs (none earned) on three hits through five innings. Buster closed it out with two perfect innings of relief. Cap right-hander Logan Arceo threw four shutout innings in relief of Jordan Estrella, allowing one hit while striking out four.

Notre Dame-Belmont 9, Milpitas 5
Notre Dame-Belmont 13, Westmont 5
The Tigers (6-8-1) capped the Los Gatos/Westmont Softball Tournament with a pair of wins, spurred by Allie Dorn and Claire Kimball. In the doubleheader opener, Skylar Loo tabbed two doubles and three RBIs, while Dorn and Kimball had two hits and one RBIs apiece. Kimball went 3 for 3 in the nightcap, to finish the day 5 for 6 with a double, a triple and four RBIs. Dorn drove in four runs and scored four more against Westmont, and finished the day 2 for 3 with six RBIs. NDB finished the two-day tourney spanning two consecutive Saturdays with a 3-0-1 record.
Santa Teresa 5, Hillsdale 4
Homestead 7, Hillsdale 2
After winning the first two games of the Los Gatos/Westmont Softball Tournament Saturday, March 28, the Lady Knights (7-6) dropped their last two, with the crossroads of the day proving to be the fourth inning in the doubleheader opener against Santa Teresa. The Saints jumped ahead 5-0 in the fourth, but Hillsdale fired back when senior Mia DeMartini left earth with a grand slam to cut it to 5-4. Santa Teresa starter Bella Batista went on to set down four of the last five batters in the shortened five-inning game. Junior Liana Mack had two of Hillsdale’s three hits in the nightcap against Homestead.

Carlmont 7, Sequoia 2
Carlmont sophomore Jacob Shinseki whirled 5 2/3 shutout innings to lead the Scots (2-1 PAL Bay, 7-7 overall) to a two-game series split with Sequoia (2-2, 9-4) in Belmont. Shinseki allowed just two hits, and navigated six walks while striking out six. Carlmont got on the board in the first with an RBI single from junior Giancarlo Enferadi, and added three in the second with RBI singles from Ryan Weiss and Benjamin Taylor, and an RBI triple from Nate Werbinski. Cole Hymer went 1 for 4 for the Ravens, dropping his season average to .471.
Menlo-Atherton 22, Pioneer 12
Two Bears recorded four-hit, five-RBI days as M-A (5-10) swung its way to a wild non-league win at Pioneer-San Jose (8-7). M-A jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Mustangs rallied back with two in the first, three in the second and three more in the third to tie it. The Bears took the lead for good with a three-run rally in the fourth, with senior Ryder Kelly delivering the go-ahead RBI single.
Kelly went 4 for 6 with two doubles, five RBIs and four runs scored. Senior MJ Ellazar added four hits with a double and five RBIs. Freshman Jake Scott led of the seventh with a solo home run to left for the Bears.
PAL Bay standings: Carlmont 3-1, Menlo-Atherton 2-2, Menlo School 2-2, Sequoia 2-2, Burlingame 1-1, The King’s Academy 1-1, Capuchino 0-0, Hillsdale 1-2.

Half Moon Bay 18, Jefferson 0
The Cougars (3-0 PAL Lake, 7-6 overall) homered five times, including two by senior Miranda Sarabia, in a four-inning mercy-rule win at Jefferson (0-2, 0-6). Sarabia went 3 fo 5 with a double, two homers and six RBIs. Taelor Johnson, Paisley Harris and Zoey Schwartz added homers for HMB, while senior Mariah Deeney fired a one-hit shutout. Senior Diana Lopez recorded the only hit of the day for the Grizzles.
Design Tech 12, Summit Shasta 0
Two days after firing a perfect game, freshman Adelaide Chuang recorded a one-hit shutout as the Dragons earned a five-inning mercy-rule win over Summit Shasta (2-0 PSAL, 4-3 overall) at the Belmont Sports Complex. The right-hander walked one and struck out 10 to improve her record to 3-0. Another freshman, Kendall Hom, paced Design Tech at the plate, going 4 for 4 with a double, two triples and four RBIs. Senior Nani Ochoa accounted for the only hit for the Black Bears (0-1, 1-2).
Woodside 10, Sequoia 1
Senior right-hander Hannah Walker struck out a career-high 17 as she went the distance for the Wildcats (10-4) in a non-league rivalry matchup at home against Sequoia (4-6). It marks the second straight game Walker has set a career mark in punch-outs. She entered the week with a career-best of 11, but totaled 13 strikeouts last Tuesday in an 11-2 win over Carlmont. The senior totaled 14 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits, no walk, one hit batter and 30 strikeouts on the week.
