Kiara Nitao, Hillsdale girls’ basketball. The senior guard helped lead the way to a 1-1 week for the Lady Knights. She had 13 points in 52-33 win over South City and ended the week with 14 points in the Knights’ first loss of the season, 44-42 to Los Altos.
Dylan Rossen, Burlingame boys’ soccer. The senior midfielder had a foot in both goals in the Panthers’ 2-0 non-league win over Serra. He earned and then converted a penalty kick in the 11th minute and then helped ice the game with the assist on Jannik Nomm’s goal five minutes after halftime.
Khloe Meisenbach, South City girls’ wrestling. The sophomore claimed a second-place podium finish in the 140-pound bracket at the Women’s West Coast Tournament of Champions over the weekend, earning her way into the championship finals with four wins, all via falls. After a tech fall in her opening match, she put her next two opponents to the mat in the first round before dueling with Placer’s Aeryn Cox in the semifinals. Meisenbach earned the pin there too, waiting until the third round to exact the win with 10 seconds remaining in the match. She went on to fall in the finals to Northview’s Sumaya Lazaro via second-round fall.
Emilio Jimenez, El Camino boys’ soccer. A sophomore midfielder, Jimenez led the way in a 9-0, non-league rout of Summit Shasta. Jimenez had a goal and two assists, giving him four points as eight players scored for the Colts. The win keeps El Camino undefeated on the season at 5-0-1.
Niko Selianitis, El Camino boys’ wrestling. El Camino earned five podium finishes at the Pirate Invitational at Pittsburg High School, with Selianitis leading the charge. Wrestling up a weight class through the early stage of the season, the junior lightweight took the championship in the 113-pound bracket, posting a 3-0 record on the day, with a pair of first-round falls before winning in the championship finals with a tech fall against Arroyo-San Lorenzo. The Colts also earned a second-place finish at 165s by James Newton-Busalacchi; second-place at 190s by Bradley Galang; fourth-place at 150s by Keanu Perez; and fourth-place at 285s by Davian Martinez.

Bernardo Chaparro, Hillsdale boys’ soccer. A senior midfielder, Chaparro helped the Knights to a draw and a win last week. He set up Tyler Essa’s goal in a 1-1 tie with Branham. He then had the game’s only goal in a 1-0 win over Leland, off an assist from Cristian Gomez. The Knights, the defending CCS Division II champs, are 4-0-2 since opening the season with a 2-0 loss to North Coast Section power Monte Vista-Danville.
Violet MacAvoy, San Mateo girls’ basketball. The junior post helped lead the Bearcats to three wins last week as they improved to 8-2 on the season. She opened the week with 10 points as San Mateo routed Balboa-SF, 51-17. She followed that with a 17-point, 14-rebound double-double as the Bearcats blew out Burton-SF, 53-17. She ended her week with another double-double, finishing with 14 points and a dozen rebounds in a 62-38 win over South City.
Gio Garduno-Martin and Levi Meighan, Half Moon Bay boys’ basketball. Both Garduno-Martin and Meighan had big games in the Cougars’ 73-68 win over Menlo. Garduno-Martin was on fire, finishing with a game-high 37 points. Meighan went 4 for 5 from behind the 3-point line to added 18 in a 73-65 win over Menlo School.
Dexter Miller, Oceana boys’ basketball. The Sharks opened the week with a 64-52 win over Terra Nova, with Miller leading the way. The senior forward entered the day with a season-high of 18 points, but blew past that to score a game-high 25. It was a significant win for the Oceana program, as it snaps Terra Nova’s head-to-head 35-game win streak against the crosstown Sharks, a streak dating back to 2005-06.
