Junior Mark O’Grady has emerged as quite the catalyst on Burlingame’s recent four-game winning streak.

The Panthers (9-2 PAL Bay, 15-8 overall) kept rolling with a 3-2 walk-off win in extra innings Wednesday at Washington Park, as O’Grady delivered the game-winning hit and earned the winning decision on the mound. With the win, first-place Burlingame takes a 1 1/2 game lead in the Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division race, with Menlo School falling 7-4 to the King’s Academy.
Entering in relief of junior starting pitcher Nash Trautwein, O’Grady worked three shutout innings to improve his record to 3-0 with a 1.14 ERA. Then, in the bottom of the ninth, he shot an RBI single back through the middle to score junior Aaron Lau with the game-winning run.
Prior to Burlingame’s four-game win streak, O’Grady was batting .200 on the season, but has gone 7 for 12 with seven RBIs over the stretch to up his average to .269. On the mound, he is 2-0 with two appearances during the win streak.
Carlmont (6-5, 11-12) has now gone to extra-innings in four of its last five games. Junior Ryan Attard paced the Scots with with a pair of doubles, while junior Nate Werbinski added two hits with an RBI.
The Panthers are now 7-0 in one-run games this season.
Menlo-Atherton leapfrogged Menlo School and into second place with a 12-3 win over Capuchino.
