The eRedwood City Public Library now has MyiLibrary which lets users take borrowed audio books on the road with their iPod, iPhone or hundreds of other WMA and MP3 devices. The library’s audio collection includes more than 500 fiction and non-fiction titles.

Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Weigh-Off champion Don Young and his burly 1,658-pound pumpkin dubbed "Monster from the Midway” is scheduled to be on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien Friday.
Young won the 36th Annual Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay Oct. 12 when he obliterated the field and every giant pumpkin record in the state.
Young, a 45-year old tree trimmer from Des Moines, Iowa, bested a formidable field of 60 heavyweight contenders from California, Oregon and Washington to win the coveted title and $9,948 in prize money in dominating the Super Bowl of pumpkin weigh-off contests.

The dentists at Millbrae Dental Care are putting their money where your children’s mouths are. It is well known that too much candy can lead to uncomfortable dental problems. Local Millbrae dental practice, Millbrae Dental Care, is doing something about it ... while contributing to Millbrae AYSO soccer program for Halloween candy brought in to their office by local children.
The office will be making up to a $2,500 donation ($10 for each student) to Millbrae AYSO and giving each child up to $10 ($2 for every pound, for the first 250 children) of Halloween candy that children bring in. Millbrae Dental Care has named the event "Cash for Candy.” It begins Monday morning after Halloween and lasts until Nov. 12
No appointment is necessary. Children must be accompanied by an adult and are encouraged to simply walk into the Millbrae Dental Care office between 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The office, located at 88 Capuchino Drive, is at the corner of Broadway and Capuchino Drive in Millbrae.

Some residents on 22nd Avenue in San Mateo were approached by men falsely presenting themselves as carpet and hardwood floor cleaners that were hired by the city of San Mateo, according to police. The city is conducting a street reconstruction project on 22nd Avenue and city personnel always carry an identification card. City staff and contractors do not visit home owners to discuss the project in the evening hours. Call the Department of Public Works at 522-7334 to report any concerns.

Electric car pioneer Tesla motors received a financial shot in the arm when state Treasurer Bill Lockyer announced an agreement to give the company tax incentives to expand production in the state and create 1,400 jobs. Tesla, which began in San Carlos, will use $59 million to upgrade its Palo Alto powertrain production facility and $5 million to expand its current Roadster assembly at its Menlo Park facility.
