Editor,
One of the state’s most useless lawmakers is at it again. Scott Wiener just proposed Senate Bill 532, which would raise bridge tolls on seven Bay Area bridges by $1.50 for five years to “bolster” public transportation.

What a crock. So, people who were forced out of the area due to high cost of living, but need to commute to work, are once again expected to foot the bill. All one has to do is look at the declining ridership on Caltrain or the lack of safety on BART to realize most of us have no practical use for public transportation. Simply put, this is another tax on the working class. How about Wiener shows the public what the toll collections are currently being used for, because it’s certainly not going to upkeep. Public transportation means little when most people who work in the area need to commute here and those that can afford to live on the Peninsula wouldn’t be caught dead using public transportation.
Maybe instead of these career politicians, we should try and elect some regular folks who have a mix of book smarts, streets smarts and common sense. Wishful thinking, I know.

I believe that Weiner spends most of his time dreaming of making life more miserable for most of us. He is a product of SF politics and wishes to spread that City's failure to the rest of the State. Oddly enough there are apparently enough of his type to commiserate with him.
