Editor,
U.S. Rep. Kevin Mullin and U.S. Sens. Schiff and Padilla, this message is for you.
Get off your butts. Ask California’s registered Democrats what we want you to do. And it’s not more of the same.
Redwood City’s Steven Howard said in his July 15 letter in the Daily Journal, (“Yes, he is awful, but what’s your plan?”).
I agree with Mr. Howard’s concerns.
Ask Democrats to specify what we want you to prioritize.
And ask us what policy actions we appreciate from the current regime in Washington. In your mailing, leave room for hand-written responses. Do not limit the possible answers.
My example: Mr. Howard’s letter identified five current White House policies that he believes the general public supports.
Four that he mentioned potentially resonate with me, and I haven’t voted for a Republican since Ronald Reagan in 1980.
Time and time again, I’ve swallowed my pride and voted dutifully every two years.
U.S. Rep. Mullin, I understand that you were quoted earlier this year as saying “just wait for 2026.”
I’m tired of waiting.
Acknowledge past failures, such as that President Biden did not prioritize start-up housing for young adults.
Many of whom voted Republican.
Even in our Democratic-managed cities we witness un-housed individuals lining the streets. Toughen up.
Yes, the current regime in D.C. is awful — endangering health and safety every day.
Demonstrate that you care what we want. Listen to what we think is currently working.
Report the results to us. Full transparency.
Act now.

Doug - as we used to say, "dream on cowboy". All the Democrats have is ani-Trump venom, nothing else.
Dick. That's exactly one of my points. Anti usually sinks parties and candidates. Providing a vision is much more effective. Unfortunately, our Congressman Mullen trumpets transportation funding as a priority of HIS, front page of July 18, 2025 Journal. Did he take the time to ask US what he should be prioritizing?
Transportation Funding is where the clean and dirty money is.
Interesting Trivia here:
Steven Howard's wife and Kevin Mullin worked together in Redwood City to give us the Ferry Service which no resident ever asked for.
Both Facebook and Google tried a private ferry service to bring their employees over from Oakland. Both folded because of the extremely high cost and who wants a 1.5h commute on a slow but loud boat.
So they outsourced their cost to Redwood City and Diane Howard and Kevin Mullin were falling for it.
Of course that money to finance this "public ferry service" is not coming from the General Transportation Funding - it's coming from other Public Transit sources which means BART, Caltrain, SamTrans have a reason to complain about a "Fiscal Cliff". Basically Kevin Mullin and Diane Howard found a way to take their money.
Mr. Handerson, if you’re waiting for Democrats to do anything beneficial for the country, you likely have a long wait as Democrats continue on their downward make America last trajectory. A simple solution – begin voting Republican if you’re unable to find Democrats pushing for common sense solutions. As the country has seen, nary a Democrat fits the bill. I hope to welcome you to the common-sense Trump Republican party. What do you have to lose? You’ve already highlighted reasons to not vote Democrat.
T.Y. You mean the party where you feel free to share your own name in public postings? Not seeing that yet, if you're demonstrating a reason to switch. Btw, could you please include links to your signed letters please? I'd like to learn more.
Thanks for your ironic response, Mr. Central. Speaking of sharing one’s name in public postings, does your middle and last name coincidentally correspond to a neighborhood in San Mateo? Maybe, but highly doubtful. Apparently your party feels free to lecture other folks on sharing their “own name” but doesn’t do the same. This is akin to Newsom lecturing us on wearing masks and limiting the number of people in gatherings while he doesn’t. And how do you know my name isn't Terence?
Now let's get down to brass tacks. Riddle me this…if you or Mr. Handerson or any Democrat complains about what they feel is wrong with the Democrat Party or what the Democrat Party should prioritize yet they continue voting for Democrats, why would “leaders” of the Democrat Party listen? They can ignore you because they know your vote is guaranteed regardless of what they do or do not do. The way to change that is to vote for a candidate representing another party. If not, you get what you get, whether you like it or not.
As for signed letters, comments made under my username are signed by “autopen” (as is true for everyone since there’s no formal verification process for any username – real sounding or not). As for links, there are too many highlighting the failure of Biden and complicit Democrats so I’ll let you choose. Do a search for “Biden failures.” Or if you’re interested in state Democrat failures, do a search for “Newsom failures.” Both searches result in more links than you can shake a stick at. They’ll keep you busy for as long as you’d like or as long as you can stomach. I hope to welcome you to the common-sense Trump Republican party. What do you have to lose? If you continue voting Democrat, you get what you get, whether you like it or not.
