In an article about future development along El Camino Real, Redwood City Mayor Ian Bain had this interesting quote: “We’re hopeful that the housing units that are built there will not increase the congestion,” (“Redwood City weighing housing on El Camino Real” published in the Dec. 1 edition of the Daily Journal). Isn’t that a little bit like saying “We’re hopeful the rising sun doesn’t create any light?”
These are interesting times when we now have “managed lanes” (toll lanes), “structural deficits” (pension costs) and now “transit-oriented development” (even more traffic on El Camino Real).
Seems we lost transparency along with free-flowing roads.
