Editor,

I just read your story about Doug Burns. I saw it on CNN. I am stunned that this man was charged with a crime. My wife is an insulin dependent diabetic. She uses an insulin pump and maintains very good control of her diabetes. There are occasions though where her blood sugar crashes and she becomes disoriented. This man is not guilty of a crime. His body was reacting to a medical condition. My hope is that the charges are dropped and the Redwood Police Department officials are required to take a detailed first-aid training course. I am also stunned with the apparent insensitivity and ignorance displayed by Redwood City police Capt. Chris Cesena.
