Parisians reacted on Sunday to the news suspects had been arrested in connection with the theft of crown jewels from the Louvre museum, a week after the heist that stunned the world and sparked a massive manhunt.

More than 100 investigators are racing to solve a daring heist at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Thieves stole centuries-old jewels worth an estimated 88 million euros, including pieces linked to 19th-century queens. The theft happened in minutes on October 19, capturing global attention. Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau said on Sunday that more details would come once the suspects' custody period ends. French authorities have made several arrests, but details remain scarce due to strict privacy laws. Investigators are analyzing DNA samples and surveillance footage. The stolen jewels have been added to Interpol's Stolen Works of Art Database.
Days after eight pieces of the French crown jewels were stolen from the Louvre, a former bank robber who once toured the now-infamous Apollo Gallery for a Louvre podcast says he warned a museum official of weaknesses in security. David Desclos, a reformed career burglar, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he warned a Louvre representative years ago that the Apollo Gallery's street-facing windows and nearby vitrines left treasures exposed to anyone bold enough to climb in. The robbery has led to increased scrutiny and questions about museum security.
