Halloween is coming up next Friday, but that doesn’t mean the fun isn’t already beginning.
Throughout the Bay Area, cities have already begun setting up events to bring out the crowds. Pumpkin patches have sprung up everywhere, inviting families to spend time with the kids, and pick out pumpkins. There are plenty of fun events and places to check out this weekend, such as the Serramonte Center pumpkin patch.
The Serramonte Center pumpkin patch has inflatable slides, bounce houses, pumpkins and even a paintball gun booth where kids can shoot at targets. San Bruno resident Sam Arnaout said he usually visits the pumpkin patch twice during October. On Wednesday, he brought his son, Bradley, and his son’s friends out to the pumpkin patch to go on the inflatable slides because they all like to get a little rowdy.
Over in Half Moon Bay, there are two farms that attract visitors all year round, but especially during the Halloween season.
Arata’s Pumpkin Farm, located at 185 Verde Road, is a family-friendly farm that offers everything from hay rides to their elaborate Minotaur’s Labyrinth hay maze. It has a wide variety of pumpkins to choose from for carving, and plenty of specialty pumpkins that look straight out of a cartoon. Prices for the pumpkins vary in price, depending on the size. Besides the hay maze and hay ride, they have a haunted barn attraction, petting zoo, train ride, pony ride and bounce houses. For those looking to do it all, it is $45 per person to get admission to all the attractions. They are open Friday-Saturday, from 9 a.m.-10:30 p.m. On Sunday, they are open from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Similar to Arata’s Pumpkin Farm, Lemos Farm is another place to pet farm animals and pick out pumpkins.

Pumpkins come in all shapes and sizes, but prices once again depend on the size. It is $17.99 per person for adults. For kids, it offers a $29.99 silver pass which gives access to everything except the pony rides. For $34.99, there’s unlimited access to everything, including the pony rides. The unique factor of Lemos Farm is that it offers baby goat yoga. It is open every day from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
