One of the things I admire about the Daily Journal is that you are usually unbiased in your reporting. That is why I am disappointed in Thursday’s (Sept. 25) “In other news” story about Jimmy Kimmel. In both the headline and the first sentence you mention that he made “no apologies” for his earlier statements. I find that to be judgmental and unnecessary.
Around six minutes into his monologue he said that, “It was never my intention” to make fun of Charlie Kirk. That sounds like contrition to me. What did the journalist want him to say? “I’m sorry that the current regime is violating the Constitution?” “I’m sorry that there is no longer the concept of “Free Speech” in this country?”
It is this administration who owes him an apology. Anything beyond his heart-felt monologue would have been insincere and could have been construed as agreeing with the baseless accusations against him.

Hilarious. DM Goldstein says a DJ story is judgmental and unnecessary and here we have a judgmental and unnecessary letter from DM. I think I speak for some in “this administration” when I say, “It was never our intention to make Jimmy Kimmel utter outright lies that resulted in him getting suspended.” Jimmy Kimmel has already shown us who he is. We believe him. BTW, I wouldn’t be surprised if “The Golden Girls” reruns pull in a larger audience than Kimmel. I know which show Biden would watch.
Look DM Golstein - the only reason Kimmel came up with his lame apology was that he was losing his job. His show was temporarily cancelled because he lost viewers which translates into loss of revenue for the local ABC channels. Don't come up with this worn First Amendment argument, it was simply economics. Kimmel is perhaps tone deaf but not stupid. Leftist like you throw democracy and First Amendment terms around without thought.
Look, Dirk van Ulden, you are once again doing what righties do well - attack and accuse on things of which you are guilty. The evidence shows Trump is using his bully pulpit to threaten anyone, especially late night hosts, who dare criticize him. He showed his lack of democracy chops on 1/6 and on his first day in office denying birthright citizenship. The tragedy is this: Trump has all the power levers at his disposal and what is he doing for the good of the country? Instead of doing anything construed as good, he is focusing on retribution, revenge, and greed. An absolute pity.
