Each day after reading the news, I feel like I’ve been sucker punched. Our military is being used against us — young people who put their lives on the line to defend and protect the U.S. Constitution are being deployed to city after city to fulfill the president’s whims rather than address a fact-based crisis. Efforts to whitewash our history are underway at multiple national historic sites. And forget about free speech, we’re all starting to worry whether we’ll be fired or arrested for what might be deemed as “radical left rhetoric.”
Now we have a chance to fight back. This November, we everyday citizens have an opportunity to make a difference by voting yes for Proposition 50 and placing a chink in the armor of this extreme administration.
Proposition 50 A.K.A. the “Election Rigging Response Act” is California’s answer to the efforts by states like Texas and Missouri, which are engaging in mid-decade congressional redistricting and gerrymandering to maintain a Republican majority in Congress. If we, as everyday citizens — whether Democrat, Republic or Independent — want to protect our Democracy, we must vote yes on Proposition 50.
A yes on 50 levels the playing field without providing an unfair advantage to Republicans. This temporary measure sunsets by 2030. If passed, it will help restore the balance of our federal government and strengthen its system of checks and balances — before it is too late.

Here we go again… writer, Kelly Hunt, irrationally rationalizing the threat to democracy known as Proposition 50. Kelly, your selective outrage is noted but immediately dismissed. The facts are that law enforcement is doing their job to rid this country of criminals and terrorists while far left Democrats are doing their level best to prevent this from occurring. Vote NO to keep the balance of our federal government and strengthen its system of checks and balances — before it is too late. And do your patriotic duty to expose those who attack ICE and fellow Americans.
Sorry Kelly - we are not a Democracy. We are a Republic. It shows one more time how misunderstood our political system is by group thinkers like you. If you were really convinced that Prop 50 levels the playing field, why not permanently disenfranchise all of the voters who are not in favor of flim-flam Newsom's folly? Would you rather bet on Newsom, a totally incompetent and duplicitous politician, or on a person who just managed to end a horrible war? We need more fair representation in DC, not less.
Sorry Dirk, your rightie talking point of Democracy and a Republic is a distinction without a difference in our functioning country. Republicans have been bending the rules once again by tipping the scales in the real prospect of losing in the midterms while expecting Democrats to just lie down and do nothing? And, thanks for providing the laugh of the day of calling Newsom totally incompetent and duplicitous while we have one Trump who is bringing those traits to an art form every day. It would be hilarious but for the extreme damage he is doing to the country every day, along with fellow travelers like you.
