Editor,

Our No Kings 2 march and rally on Saturday, Oct. 18, drew people from all over the San Mateo area. Starting at Hillsdale Shopping Center and with the help of the San Mateo police and our safety monitors, 4,000 of us marched peacefully, nonviolently and safely down both sides of El Camino Real on the 2 mile walk to Central Park chanting, “The people united will never be defeated” and holding homemade signs reading, “We the People reject Tyranny,” “Love not Hate, Makes America Great,” “I Believe in the Constitution,” “No Crown for the Clown,” and “We Love America. That’s Why We Protest!”

Hilarious. You folks are off by three and a half months. No King’s day is July 4. It’s amusing these organizers think frogs, unicorns, dinosaurs and other furries and blowup characters show their loitering campaigns are serious. If anything, it reminds folks of kid’s parties. Was anyone dressing up as the most famous king, Burger King? (Some may say Elvis.) Where are the bounce houses? Keep a medic on hand as after a certain age, we all become more fragile. And make sure you have liability insurance. BTW, Ms. Beavins, you may want ensure your finances are in order – I hear Indivisible is being investigated.

Meanwhile, over 1.6 million have self-deported. CNN (yes, left wing CNN) is reporting that Trump’s approval ratings have risen after the shutdown. The Trump administration is reducing workers in the federal government, with the blessing of Democrats. Trump is canceling $billions in projects. The National Guard will soon be deployed, if they haven’t already, in Portland. ICE is arresting illegal truckers, cab drivers, rideshare drivers. ICE just arrested over 100 criminals at an Idaho horse race. More power to Trump and ICE to continue Making America Great Again. And we need more efforts to remove criminals crossing the border from voter rolls.

You missed the most important aspect. You were able to march, and be silly at the same time, because you were CELEBRATING democracy. If Trump were a king you could have been among the first to be thrown in a dungeon.
