In response to the death of a bicyclist after being struck by a pickup truck at the intersection commonly known as “Four Corners” in Skylonda Friday, Supervisor Ray Mueller is requesting urgent safety improvements be implemented.

The collision occurred at the notorious intersection of State Route 35 and State Route 84 where two windy highways meet in a two-way stop in a busy corridor that includes Alice’s Restaurant and the Skywood Trading Post and Deli.

The Four Corners might be a Caltrans project and calling for more safety is the right thing to do.

-But how about Canada Road, which I believe is in the County's jurisdiction? How about Santa Cruz Ave in West Menlo Park.

-How about all the recent deaths of pedestrians and cyclists in cities like San Mateo, Burlingame, Redwood City?

-How about the bike/ped crossings that disappeared in San Mateo, San Carlos, North Fair Oaks, because county leadership intervened or didn't intervene?

What is the Board of Supervisors and C/CAG doing to improve safety in their jurisdiction?

When our politicians can blame someone else they are loud, clear and decisive.

When it's their job to make things happen, they become very quiet and disappear.
