People older than 20 might remember when the primary instrument of elementary education had to be sharpened, not plugged in, and the action took place in a workbook, not on a monitor.
And for those who want to share that with their early-elementary-age children, there's some software from School Zone Interactive that's worth a look, because in addition to a clever learning tool on-screen, it comes with a 64-page workbook.
It's called Pencil-Pal software and it's available for both the PC and Macintosh platforms in packages aimed at preschool, kindergarten, first grade and phonics. At $19.99, there's very little not to like in both the workbook and the software.
The kindergarten version was sent for review, perhaps by a public relations department that had keenly assessed the reviewer's abilities.
