A 36-year-old South San Francisco resident has been charged with felony assault, felony vandalism, elder abuse and assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly attacking two women and vandalizing a car in South San Francisco on Oct. 26, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
The man, Miguel Garibay, allegedly threw a stone rabbit statue inside a car, breaking the front passenger window. He then allegedly punched a random woman in the jaw and began to beat her, causing lacerations to the head with an object doctors said couldn’t have been a fist.
After fleeing the scene, Garibay allegedly approached another woman, who was 71 years old. He allegedly kicked her to the ground and began kicking her head and breaking her glasses.
He told law enforcement he wasn’t feeling well after throwing the statue and asked the women for help before he “beat the shit out of [them],” in his own words, according to Wagstaffe.
Neither woman said he asked for help, Wagstaffe added.
Garibay, who said if he was released from prison he was “going to kill someone,” Wagstaffe said, is being held without bail. His next court date is Oct. 30.
