The Angelo Slough near Sea Cloud Park will be dredged by Foster City contractor Salt River Construction Corp. beginning Sept. 1 to remove built-up sediment on the Bay side of the intake gates, according to city officials.

The sediment is resulting in limited water flow into the lagoon and the work will remove approximately 13,000 cubic yards of sediment to restore the channel back to the 1978 condition when it was last dredged. The contractor will use a clamshell bucket from a barge stationed on the Bay side and load the dredge material onto vessels, which will then be transported to the Cullinan Ranch disposal site near Vallejo. As part of this project, the contractor will also replace intake gates that have reached their useful lives, according to the city.
