Little joined the staff Aug. 16 and is concentrating on getting the small school ready for classes starting Monday.
In its second year, the school will have 90 students in 9th and 10th grades. It's a college prep school that focuses on project-based learning. The school has eight teachers and a small library it hopes to expand.
The San Carlos School District board meets at 5:30 p.m. today to discuss the charter agreement with the school. The meeting will be held at the Central Middle School Media Center, 826 Chestnut St.

A grass-roots group in Burlingame is raising funds to fully fund the school crossing guard program. Its goal is to reach $32,000. So far, the group has raised $7,000.
The total cost of the program is $64,000 and Safeway has donated $32,000.
The city of Burlingame funded the program for the past several years but budget restraints prevent the city from funding the program. Citizens for a Better Burlingame is raising the money and wants a thousand families to donate $32 each to reach the goal.

Skyline College will host groundbreaking ceremonies Sept. 9 as the college begins construction of the new Student Support and Community Services Center and the new Science Annex.
The ceremonies begin at 2:30 p.m. in the center of the campus between Buildings 5 and 7, 3300 College Drive, San Bruno. Free parking will be available on the north side of the college campus. The public is invited to attend.
The project was originally initiated by the Associated Students of Skyline College in 2001, when it passed a measure to increase the admission fees to fund a new Student Union/Bookstore building on campus. The original concept was expanded into the new Student Support and Community Services Center with the passage of Measure C. The student fees together with the Measure C General Obligation Bond and Certificate of Participation funds provide the funding for the construction at Skyline.
