Police made more than 70 arrests in just over a week in San Francisco neighborhoods with the most drug-related activity, Interim Police Chief Paul Yep said Friday.
Enforcement efforts in the Tenderloin, South of Market and the Mission also turned large quantities of narcotics and four firearms, police said in a press release.
“Since Oct. 28, SFPD has arrested at least 28 drug dealers and seized 9.4 pounds of narcotics, including fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine,” police said. “Officers also arrested 40 individuals with outstanding warrants for various crimes in a one-day operation on Wednesday.”
San Francisco increase operations like buy-busts and fugitive enforcement efforts while the California Highway Patrol increased the number of officers assigned to the city, police said.
“The SFPD is doubling down on our efforts to attack the drug markets in San Francisco,” Yep said.
