Sacred Heart Prep 4, Carlmont 3
The Gators retook first place in the Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division standings with a win over the now second-place Scots.
SHP (5-1 PAL Bay, 14-4 overall) scored the maximum out of the minimum, scoring four runs on four hits — with all four runs coming in the bottom of the second inning.
Carlmont (4-2, 9-9) scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings, but could not come up the tying run as the Scots finished with eight hits.
Nate Fleischli earned the win for the Gators, his third in a row, with six innings of work. Dominic Cacchione worked the seventh for the save.
Burlingame 9, Menlo 0
The stakes weren’t nearly as high as the last time these two teams met, but the Panthers earned a big win to keep themselves in the race for an automatic Central Coast Section berth.
The last time these teams met was last year in the CCS Division II championship game, which was won by Menlo, 1-0.
Wednesday, Burlingame (2-4 PAL Bay, 8-7 overall) scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings before putting the game away with a six-run fifth.
Panther starting pitcher Emilio Flores was dominant in six innings of work, allowing just two hits while striking out six and walking only one.
Taylor Clark paced the offense for Burlingame, going 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. Justin Brunicardi was a perfect 3 for 3 and also swiped three bases, while Alex McMaster went 2 for 3 with a pair of runs driven in.
Menlo falls to 2-3 in division play and 6-9 overall with the loss.
Softball
Notre Dame-Belmont 11, Harker 0
After scuffling for the better part of a week, the Tigers have found their groove once again, picking up their second consecutive lopsided win.
After crushing Castilleja 13-3 Tuesday, the Tigers returned to the diamond Wednesday to drub the Eagles in a West Bay Athletic League game.
NDB starting pitcher Madison Earnshaw was dominant Wednesday, tossing a complete game, five-hitter. She struck out and eye-popping 18 Harker batters.
Ashleigh Dean drove in a pair of runs to lead NDB offense. Emma Nolte and Kelly Nolte each drove in a run as well for the Tigers. Earnshaw also had a solid day at the plate with a team-high three hits in five at-bats.
College softball
San Mateo 23, De Anza 1
The Lady Bulldogs clinched at least a tie for the Coast Conference North title with the lopsided win over the Dons.
The win was the ninth in a row for the state’s top-ranked team.
Madeline Morris had a big game for CSM, going 2 for 3 with four RBIs, including one of the eight Bulldogs doubles. Leaness Donn led the CSM with three hits, while six Bulldogs batters had two hits.
CSM scored six runs in the first inning and added five more in the second to take command of the game. The Bulldogs then put De Anza out of its misery with a 12-run fourth.
CSM (10-1 Coast Conference, 32-4 overall) has only one game left in Coast Conference play: an April 24 regular-season finale against Ohlone (8-2, 28-8). The Bulldogs will play a pair of non-league games before facing the Renegades. They’ll host Santa Rosa at 3 p.m. Thursday and then go on the road to Aptos to face Cabrillo at noon Saturday.
College baseball
San Mateo 9, Chabot-Hayward 6
The Bulldogs completed a two-game sweep of the Gladiators, knocking them out of first place in the Golden Gate Conference, and moving into a first-place tie with Mission-Santa Clara.
After two scoreless innings, CSM (11-5 Golden Gate, 24-11 overall) took control of the game with five runs in the top of the third inning.
Everett Lau paced the offense for San Mateo, going 2 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Angelo Bortolin and Nick Knecht each drove in a pair of runs for the Bulldogs as well.
Starter Sean Prozell picked up the win on the mound for San Mateo. He worked six innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five.
CSM, which is riding a five-game winning streak, have four games remaining in the regular season — including a pair with Mission on the final twos days, April 24 and 26.
Boys’ lacrosse
Sacred Heart Prep 21, Mitty 3
The Gators cruised to an easy West Catholic Athletic League win over the Monarchs.
Tommy Barnds had another big game for SHP, scoring a match-high seven goals. Teddy Vought accounted for seven goals as well, scoring twice and assisting on five others. Ben Ramsey added four goals for the Gators, who had 10 players find the back of the net.

Swimming
NDB relay qualifies for CCS
The Notre Dame-Belmont swim team hosted its only swim meet of the season at Serra, where its 200 medley relay team posted a qualifying time for the Central Coast Section championships next month.
The team of Kristen Martinez, Maya Hart, McKaela Glanville and Riley Brownfield swam the four-discipline event in a time of 2:11.94 during the Tigers’ meet with Castilleja.
Glanville also qualified for CCS in the 400 free, posting a time of 4:40.72.
Baseball
Harker 20, Crystal Springs 8
The Eagles scored nine runs in the second inning and added seven more in the third to cruise past the Gryphons in a PAL Lake Division game.
Crystal Springs in still looking for its first win in league play, falling to 0-4. The Gryphons are 2-4 overall. Harker improved to 4-2 in Lake Division play and 7-4 overall.
