A judge in the case against a Half Moon Bay farmworker accused of killing seven in a mass shooting rejected a motion for discovery on a hearing to examine if the juror selection process in San Mateo County was flawed, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said, but did release information on how the county selects jurors.

The trial for Chunli Zhao, who allegedly murdered seven farmworkers and injured one more in a Jan. 23, 2023, mass shooting at two separate mushroom farms on the San Mateo County coast, is set for Jan. 25, 2027.

The shootings did not happen in the City of Half Moon Bay, nor did the suspect live in Half Moon Bay. The correct location is the unincorporated Coastside. If that is too much to describe you might consider accurately reporting the location as "near Half Moon Bay."
