MADRID (AP) — Real Sociedad fired coach Sergio Francisco on Sunday, two days after the club's third straight loss in the Spanish league.
Sociedad lost 2-1 to struggling Girona on Friday in a home match it led through 75 minutes. It had also lost at Alaves and against Villarreal in its league games.
Girona hadn't won in four consecutive matches in all competitions, being eliminated by third-division club Ourense in the second round of the Copa del Rey earlier this month.
Francisco leaves Sociedad in 15th place with 16 points from 16 matches, one point clear of the relegation zone.
The 46-year-old Francisco had taken over the helm from long-time Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil in April.
