California’s schools and colleges receive billions in federal funding each year — money that President Donald Trump is threatening to terminate over the actions of one student. AB Hernandez, a junior from Jurupa Valley High School, is transgender, and on May 31 she won first- and second-place medals at the state track and field championship.

Despite his incendiary post threatening California with “large scale fines” on social media and a similar threat a few days earlier to withhold “large-scale” federal funding from California, Trump lacks the authority to change the state’s policy toward transgender athletes without an act of Congress or a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court. And recent court cases suggest that Trump also may have a hard time withholding money from California.

"Newsom and California Democrats Risk Losing Federal School Funding to Cater to One Confused Boy"... fixed your headline.

Actually it is way more than ONE boy playing girls high school sports in California, I know of several just in the Bay Area. We don't know the actual numbers as CIF does not keep records. Crazy though that Democrats are dying on this hill and ignoring the issues of fairness, safety and privacy for girls and women. And no one is "banned" from sports- everyone has the opportunity to play sports in their correct sex class. Sports are played with bodies, which have a sex that cannot be change, not "identities" CIF admits there is male advantage with their silly new rule that allowed actual girls to share the title or move on if displaced if a "trans girl"(boy) is in the competition.

Good news though that we are on the downslope of this nutty ideology ending. At least 80% of the population agrees: present how you like, as an adult with real informed consent take hormones and have surgeries (at your own expense) if you so desire, but changing sex is impossible and women's sex based rights must be protected in sports, bathrooms, locker rooms, prisons, shelters, and other private spaces.

It may not be that easy, but it needs to be done, especially to re-establish women’s rights. More power to Trump and his common sense policies. Lawfare may slow down Trump’s effort, but won’t eliminate it. Methinks Newsom may need to put more money into his sue Trump fund. $50 million won’t be enough.
