Senior starting pitcher Mariah Deeney recorded her first career shutout as the Cougars (2-0 PAL Lake, 5-1 overall) claimed a five-inning mercy-rule win in PAL Lake Division play at El Camino (1-2, 2-2). Mariah Deeney allowed three hits and two walks while striking out five through five innings of work, improving her record to 2-0. Her sister, senior Tessa Deeney, had a double and two RBIs, while senior Sarah Spencer led the way with three hits, including a double and two RBIs. El Camino’s Juliana Bazlamit had a double and is now batting .556 (5 for 9) on the season.
Burlingame 11, Los Altos 1
The Panthers (4-1) totaled 11 hits and scored a walk-off win at home in a five-inning mercy-rule game against Los Altos (2-4). Senior Sophia Lin had a triple and three RBIs, and senior Kendall Gorshen went 2 for 3 with two RBIs as Burlingame won its third straight. Sophomore starting pitcher Brooke Arce fired four scoreless innings to earn the win, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out six. Her record improves to 4-1 with a 1.64 ERA.
Capuchino 3, Notre Dame-Belmont 1
The Lady Mustangs (1-2) broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the third and added another run in the fifth to earn their first win of the season at home against Notre Dame-Belmont (3-5). Senior Alana Koenig went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and junior Dana Motroni drove in a run. Junior right-hander Lily Thomas allowed one run on three hits to earn the win. Eliana Crespin drove in Stella Hird for NDB’s only run.
Aptos 7, Aragon 3
Aragon took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth, but Aptos (6-2) responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame and added four more in the fifth. Freshman Ella Jacobs and junior Nova Neu each homered for the Mariners, while freshman Sofia Marin drove in a pair of runs. Aragon (5-6) was powered by senior Destiny Garcia’s first home run of the year, while freshman Natalie Jia added two hits with an RBI.
Homestead 4, Woodside 2
Woodside senior Marisa Calderon went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and and RBIs, but it was not enough, as Homestead-Cupertino (6-1) earned the win at home. Cupertino starting pitcher Mackenzie Smith allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits to pick up the complete-game victory. Smith struck out a career-high 12 batters, and also went 2 for 3 with two RBIs at the plate.
Palo Alto 9, South City 1
Palo Alto freshman Samantha Prabhu allowed just one hit through five shutout innings, walking one batter while striking out 12. Palo Alto (5-1) was led by junior Kira Tzeng’s three hits. South City (2-3) got on the board in the seventh with an RBI from Juventina Suarez to drive home junior Kadence Yip.

Mills 17, Lincoln 0
The Lady Vikings (5-1) made quick work of visiting Lincoln-SF (0-2), scoring 11 times in the first and adding six in the second for a three-inning mercy-rule win in Millbrae. Sophomore Gina Hillman and freshman Isabel Chen combined for a three-inning perfect game, striking out all nine batters they faced. Hillman and Gabby Moreno paced Mills with two hits apiece, and junior Alyssa Penas and sophomore Sydney Chu each had a double with two RBIs.
Burlingame 3, Newark Memorial 2
The Panthers (3-1) trailed 2-0 late but tied it with two runs in the bottom of the sixth and walked off in the bottom of the seventh to top Newark Memorial (0-3) for their second straight win. Kiley Lyons tallied a double and two RBIs for Burlingame, while sophomore Olivia Delucchi added an RBI. Sophomore Evangelina Taimani paced Newark Memorial with two hits.
St. Francis 10. Hillsdale 2
Sophomore pitcher Mercedes Coller, a Millbrae native, worked six innings in the circle to earn the win for St. Francis-Mountain View (4-0). Coller allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Hillsdale (2-4) totaled five hits on the day, with senior Taylor O’Mahoney going 2 for 3 with an RBI, junior Lola Jones tabbing a single and an RBI, and senior Mia DeMartini tripling and scoring a run.
San Mateo 8, Milpitas 1
Junior starting pitcher Celia Hernandez allowed one run on six hits through six innings of work to earn the win in the circle, while recording an RBI at the plate, as the Bearcats (4-1) got back in the win column at home against Milpitas (4-1). Junior Alice Han paced San Mateo with a 4-for-4 day, with a double, a triple, an RBI and three runs scored. Han is now 12 for 21 on the year while slashing .571/1.000/1.750 through five games.
Menlo-Atherton 15, Oakland 0
Freshman Lavientani Taufahema connected for her second home run of the year, and the Bears (3-1) rolled to a three-inning mercy-rule win at home over Oakland (1-2). M-A scored nine runs in the first, two in the second, then walked off with four in the third. Taufahema and senior Carey Maletis had two hits and three RBIs apiece, while senior Elise Koo added two hits with a double and two RBIs. Junior starter Gracy Nava and Koo combined on a shortened one-hit shutout.
Design Tech 22, Jefferson 1
The Dragons (1-1) put up crooked innings in each of their four at-bats to roll to the shortened four-inning win at Jefferson (0-4). Freshman Adelaide Chuang paced Design Tech with five hits, sophomore Sonia Teismann was 4 for 4 with a double and five RBIs, and senior Ella Lewis and freshman Kendall Hom totaled three hits and five RBIs apiece. Leila Romoran paced Jefferson with two hits, including a double. Chuang worked two shutout innings in the circle to earn her first varsity win.
King’s Academy 7, Capuchino 0
The King’s Academy (3-2) continues to have Cap’s number, shutting out the Lady Mustangs (1-1) for the second straight year. Senior left-hander Katia Nesper was the culprit again, firing a three-hit shutout while striking out 18 — not even the southpaw’s season-high, as she was coming off a 19-strikeout performance in TKA’s 2-0 win over Homestead. Last season, Nesper no-hit Cap in a regulation 1-0 win. This year, Dana Motroni, Brooklyn Rose and Alexa Tajeldin each got in the hit column for the Mustangs.
