Mills 1, El Camino 0
The Vikings nearly saw their bid for an undefeated PAL Ocean Division campaign fall by the wayside, but they did just enough to hold off the Colts.
Mills (11-0 PAL Ocean, 15-3 overall) scored an unearned run in the first inning and Vikings’ pitcher Sofia Mosqueda made it stand up as she threw a complete game, scattering seven hits.
The Vikings scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the first. With one out, Olivia Williams and Sammi Yeung had back-to-back singles to bring up Cassandra Stanley. She hit a sharp grounder to third that the third baseman back handed and stepped on the third-base bag for the second out. Her throw to first to try and complete the double play sailed up the line, however, allowing Yeung to score.
El Camino (5-4, 7-6) had its shot to tie the game in the top of the sixth when Divina Moreno doubled, but was cut down at the plate on a Ruby Nagaya single, as Mills rightfielder Nicole Boie threw a strike to get Moreno at the plate.
