Westmoor 56, South City 54 OT
The Rams rallied from a halftime deficit to beat the Warriors in overtime in the PAL Ocean Division opener for both teams.
South City (0-1 PAL Ocean, 7-6 overall) led 12-8 after the first period and 27-22 at halftime. But Westmoor (1-0, 6-6) outscored the Warriors 24-19 in the second to force the extra period.
Westmoor got a huge performance from Kiana Chavez, who poured in a game-high 29 points, hitting on 13 field goals. Jhacelyn Capistrano added 13 for the Rams.
South City was led by Sofia Kinchen, who finished with 23 points.
Capuchino 65, Oceana 5
The surging Mustangs cruised to the win over the Sharks.
Capuchino (1-0 PAL Ocean, 8-2 overall) has won five in a row.
Kailee Gonzales led the Mustangs with 18 points, while Alana Koenig added 10.
Oceana falls to 0-1 in Ocean play and 0-6 overall.

Design Tech (1-0 PSAL North, 3-3 overall) opened PSAL North Division play with a 43-17 win over Mountain View Academy (1-2).
Scotts Valley (10-1 overall) buried Mills (4-4) 66-33 in a non-league game.
Boys’ basketball
Menlo-Atherton 62, Jefferson 28
Close at halftime, the Bears buried the Grizzlies in the second half of their PAL Bay Division opener.
M-A (1-0 PAL Bay, 8-3 overall) led 23-13 at halftime, but then overwhelmed Jefferson (0-1, 5-7) in the second half, outscoring the Grizzlies 39-15.
Jacob Sutton scored a game-high 15 points to lead M-A, with Evan Makielski adding 12. and Luca Auer chipping in 10 points. Jefferson was led by Raymond Villar, who scored nine points.
In other action ...
Design Tech (1-0 PSAL North, 1-6 overall) picked up its first win of the season, posting a 60-36 win over Mountain View Academy (1-1).
Crystal (9-2 overall) doubled up Stratford Prep (3-4), 80-40.
Summit Shasta (2-0 PSAL North, 7-5 overall) cruised to a 76-36 win over Nueva School (0-1, 1-7).
Girls’ soccer
Sequoia 3, Menlo-Atherton 2
The Ravens scored once in the second half to hold off the Bears in a resumption of PAL Bay play that began before the holiday break.
Sequoia (1-0-1 PAL Bay, 2-4-2 overall) led 2-0 at halftime, but M-A (0-1, 4-3-2) answered with a pair in the second half, only for the Ravens to pull out the victory.
Gigi Jarolowick scored a pair of goals for Sequoia, while Kate Dutton added a goal and an assist. Sienna Sommerfeld opened the scoring for the Ravens.
Ella Mohr and Sam Ruiz hooked up for both M-A goals.

Carlmont 4, Burlingame 0
The Scots scored twice in each half on the way to the shut out of the Panthers.
Nicole Franklin led the way for Carlmont (1-0 PAL Bay, 4-2-1 overall), scoring once and assisting on two others. Rina Choe opened the scoring for the Scots, off an assist from Lila Latta. Eva Awoyinka and Kiyo Aretun rounded out the scoring for Carlmont.
Burlingame falls to 2-1 in Bay play and 2-4-2 overall.
Woodside 2, Hillsdale 0
The defending Bay Division champs shut out the Knights with a goal in each half.
Emilia Pelkowski and Kaylie McKee each scored for Woodside (1-0-1 PAL Bay, 4-1-2 overall), with Ellie Sala and Natalia Lopez each picking up an assist.
Hillsdale falls to 0-1-1 in Bay action and 2-4-2 overall.
San Mateo 10, Oakland 0
The Bearcat blew out the Wildcats in a non-league match.
San Mateo (3-2 overall) took all the drama out of this one early, scoring seven first-half goals before tacking on three more in the second half.
Violette Vestner, Mia Bertolina, Zoe Lichaa and Nur Ziv all scored two goals for the Bearcats, with Kayla Lichaa and Luciana Bertolina rounded out the scoring.
Menlo School 1, Castilleja 0
The Knights opened WBAL Foothill Division play with the shutout of the Gators.
The game’s only goal came with just under 20 minutes left in the game as Josie Lee sent a corner kick into the penalty box. Audrey Katz redirected the cross to Kayla Banatao, who flicked a header to Julia Livingston who netted the game winner.
Goalkeeper Bianca Putanec posted the shutout for Menlo (1-0 WBAL Foothill, 6-0-1 overall).
For Castilleja, it was its first loss of the season, falling to 0-1 in division play and 5-1-1 overall.
In other action...
Sacred Heart Prep (0-0-1 WBAL Foothill, 2-2-1 overall) played to a scoreless draw with King’s Academy (0-0-1, 3-2-2).
Mercy (2-3-1 overall) kept Capuchino (0-7-1) winless on the season following a 2-0, non-league win.

Boys’ basketball results
Terra Nova (7-5 overall) had no trouble with Oceana (4-6), beating the Sharks 81-44.
Capuchino (5-7 overall) topped Waldorf-SF (6-4), 70-57.
Girls’ basketball results
Capuchino (8-2 overall) had no trouble in beating Waldorf-SF (4-5), 53-19.
Terra Nova (4-3 overall) handled Presentation (3-9) 61-24 in a non-league meeting.
Boys’ soccer results
Sacred Heart Cathedral (5-1 overall) shut out Menlo-Atherton (2-4), 2-0.
Half Moon Bay (3-2-2 overall) and Aragon (3-3-1) played to a scoreless draw in a non-league game.
