Serra 17, Sacred Heart Cathedral 5
The Padres took a step closer to winning the West Catholic Athletic League title after completing the sweep of the Irish.
Serra (10-2 WCAL, 20-5 overall) has a one-game lead over St. Francis with two games remaining in the regular season. St. Ignatius dropped two games back with a loss to Valley Christian Saturday.
Aaron Minton had a big day at the plate for Serra, going 3 for 4 with a homer, triple and four runs driven in. Ian Josephson, who also homered, Tyler Harrison and Jack Wess all drove in two runs apiece, as well.
That was more than enough offense starting pitcher Kelley Crawford, who allowed ron run on four hits in four innings of work, striking out five. Three relievers then closed the game out for the Padres.
Burlingame 8, Santa Cruz 6
The Panthers scored four runs in the second and three more third on their way to the win over the Cardinals.
Slade Flores had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for Burlingame (10-12 overall). Mark O’Grady, Roberto Beltranena, Liam Philibosian, Rodrigo Beltranena and Andrew Gall all had an RBI each.
Ea Leialoha got the win, working the first four innings, giving up two runs on four hits.
South City 17, Mission 0
The Warriors ran their winning streak to 12 in a row following a non-league blowout win over the Bears.
South City (18-4 overall) got all the offense it would need in the first inning, scoring four times. The Warriors scored six more in the second as they banged out 14 hits for the game.
Gio Bernal, Christian Wong and Oscar Reyes all collected three RBIs, while Emilio Oseguera and Yordonis Medina-Pineda added two RBIs each.
Oseguera got the win, allowing one hit over three innings.

Half Moon Bay (9-14) beat Lincoln-SF (13-15), 4-1.
San Mateo (11-12) slipped past Cupertino (11-10-1), 6-5.
Serquoia (13-9) hammered Aragon (7-15), 15-5.

The Padres stayed on top of the West Catholic Athletic League, one game ahead of both St. Ignatius and St. Francis with their win over the Irish.
Serra (9-2 WCAL, 19-5 overall) scored once in the bottom of the first and put the game away with a four-run fifth. SHC (3-8, 12-12), which outhit the Padres 10-5, scored its run in the top of the seventh.
Davis Minton supplied the biggest hit of the day, a grand slam to account for all four Serra runs in the fifth. Jack Armstrong drove in a run in the first. That made a winner of Riley Lim, who worked six scoreless innings, scattering nine hits, striking out seven along the way.
Quinn Middleton collected the RBI for SHC.
Sequoia 6, Sacred Heart Prep 4
The Ravens reached the .500 mark in Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division play, completing the sweep of the Gators.
Sequoia (5-5 PAL Bay, 12-9 overall) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third and added four more in the fourth. SHP (4-6, 9-14) scored twice in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the seventh.
Drew Ostrander had two hits and two RBIs to pace the offense for Sequoia. Morgan Winfield got the win with a complete-game effort. He allowed just three hits and of the four SHP runs, only one was earned. He walked one and struck out eight.
Menlo-Atherton 5, King’s Academy 4
The Bay Division-leading Bears bounced back from a one-run loss to the Knights Wednesday to beat them by a run Friday.
M-A (8-2 PAL Bay, 16-7 overall) holds a two-game lead over Capuchino with four games remaining in the regular season.
Both teams scored twice in the first inning, but the Bears scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. King’s (4-6, 9-9) countered with runs in the sixth and seventh.
Ryder Kelly clouted a two-run home run for M-A in the top of the first with Wes Peterson being the beneficiary. The junior pitched worked the first four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits in picking up the victory. Anothony Kabrich got the hold with 1 1/3 innings pitched and Jimmy Zaharias locked down the save, allowing a run in 1 2/3 innings.
Nate Plata went 2 for 4 with a home run to pace the offense for King’s Academy.
Capuchino 5, Hillsdale 1
The Mustangs leap-frogged the Knights in the standings, moving into second place with the win.

Capuchino (7-4 PAL Bay, 15-9 overall) scored once in the first, added two more in the second and scored a pair of insurance runs in the fifth. Hillsdale (5-5, 10-10) scored its run in the top of the sixth.
Bobby Gomez was dominant on the mound for the Mustangs, pitching a complete game, allowing one run on just three hits. Bryce Brooks had the big hit for Capuchino, drilling a two-run triple.
Jake Belloni had the RBI for Hillsdale.
Carlmont 8, Burlingame 4
The Scots stayed in the race for one of five Bay Division transfer spots to CCS by doubling up the Panthers.
The top five finishers in the eight-team Bay Division receive automatic bids to the postseason. Carlmont (4-6 PAL Bay, 10-12 overall) is currently in a three-way tie for that fifth qualifying spot, tied with Sacred Heart Prep and King’s Academy.
Burlingame (4-7, 9-12) got off to a fast start, however, scoring four times in the bottom of the first — but the Panthers did not score again.
Carlmont got on the board with a run in the second and took the lead for good with four runs in the top of the third. The Scots then added single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, taking advantage of six Burlingame errors.
Pano Koutoulas drove in a pair of runs for the Scots. Noah Werbinski got the win in the relief of Jonathan Fong. Werbinski went the final four innings, allowing one.
Michael Vargas drove in a pair of runs for Burlingame.
Design Tech 21, KIPP SJ Collegiate 1
The Dragons scored 16 runs in the top of the first of the mercy-rule win over the winless Wolfpack.
D Tech (10-2 PSAL, 11-7 overall) banged out 24 hits, with Aidan Tom and Eion Halili each collecting four hits. Tom, Diego Carrasco and Logan Garrett all drove in three runs for the Dragons, while Halili, Reilly Sutton, Edison Yee, Isaac Gradek and Declan Larkin all had two RBIs apiece.
Three D Tech pitchers combined on the four-inning no-hitter, with KIPP’s run being unearned.
More-SJ 7, Summit Shasta 4
The Black Bears led 4-2 after five innings, but the Knights scored three in the top of the sixth and two more in the top of the seventh to pull out the PSAL victory.
Caden Frost went 2 for 4 and drove in three runs to lead the offense for Summit Shasta (6-2 PSAL, 9-10 overall).
Softball
Mills 3, Notre Dame-Belmont 2
The Vikings pulled into a first-place tie with the Tigers following a walk-off win Friday.
Both teams scored two runs in the sixth, with Mills (5-1 PAL Ocean, 17-3-1 overall) pulling out the win with a run in the bottom of the seventh to avenge a 6-3 loss to NDB (5-1, 15-4-1) March 26.
Audrey Jang tripled and drove in a run for Mills, while Lucy Esquivel added a pair of doubles. Kalia Woo got the win, giving up two runs on three hits in a complete-game effort.
Alli Lui hit a two-run homer in the top of the sixth, but ended up taking the loss in the circle for NDB.
Both teams now have one loss in Ocean play with four games remaining in the regular season.
Sequoia 7, Half Moon Bay 5
The Ravens scored in five of the seven innings to beat the Cougars in an Ocean Division meeting.
Jada Crockett homered and also got the win in the circle for Sequoia (6-2 PAL Ocean, 10-7 overall), pitching a complete game with 11 strikeouts. LuLu Odom collected four hits, including a double and drove in a pair of runs for the Ravens.
HMB (0-6, 7-13) was led by Mia Modena, who collected three hits, including a homer.
Notre Dame-SJ 6, Mercy 1
The Regents opened up a two-game lead atop the PAL Lake Division standings with the win over the Bears.
NDSJ (6-1 PAL Lake, 13-6 overall) pushed Mercy (4-3, 9-12) a game further behind in the standings, with only the division champ getting an automatic bid to the postseason.
NDSJ took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and took complete control of the game with a four-run fifth. Vikki Saenz had the only RBI for Mercy, driving it in the fourth inning.
El Camino 10, Castilleja 9
After the Gators tied the game with a run in the top of the seventh, the Colts walked off with the win with a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Lara Rezende went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the offense for El Camino (2-4 PAL Lake, 3-11 overall). Isabella Totah got the win in the circle, with 1 1/3 innings of relief of starter Alyssa Rueda, who worked into the sixth inning.
South City 16, Jefferson 1
The Warriors scored four runs in the first and six more in the second as they cruised to the mercy-rule win over the Grizzlies.
Kadence Yip and Madyson Jade Quintanilla each had three RBIs for South City (3-2 PAL Lake, 10-7 overall). Monique Geronimo, Nayelli Camacho and Sydney Semans each added two RBIs for the Warriors.
Yip got the win in the circle, giving up one run on two hits in four innings.
