District 52
The Pacifica 13s All-Star team won its fifth straight game, beating winner's bracket winner Belmont-Redwood Shores 4-1 in Thursday's championship game to capture the District 52 Intermediate title.
Pacifica and BRS met three times in the tournament. BRS won the tournament opener for both teams, 7-4, last Saturday to drop Pacifica into the consolation bracket and one loss from elimination.
Pacifica went on to beat Redwood City 6-4, Hillsborough 7-2 and then won 9-4 over San Mateo American to move into the championship series.
Where it would have to beat BRS. Belmont-Redwood Shores, after beating Pacifica June 13, beat San Mateo American 6-3 in the winner's bracket to move into the championship series, where it would be to beaten twice to be denied the title.
Game 1 Wednesday saw Pacifica rally from a 3-2 deficit to beat BRS 6-4 to set up Thursday's winner-take-all finale.
