Half Moon Bay senior Miranda Sarabia got her groove back in the Cougars’ PAL Lake Division home win over Castilleja. A career .319 hitting, Sarabia was batting a mere .211 heading into Monday’s game. The senior improved that mark in a hurry, going 3 for 5 with a double and a career-best five RBIs in the Cougars’ 13-7 softball victory.

The Cougars (3-0 PAL Lake, 6-1 overall) trailed 2-0 after the top of the first, but posted crooked numbers in each of their first four at-bats in a makeup game from a March 4 rainout. Sarabia added three stolen bases on the day, senior Taelor Johnson added a double and two RBIs, and junior Bailey Gunning had a double and an RBI. Casti racked up 14 hits against HMB hurlers Gunning and sophomore Zoey Schwartz. Senior Katherine Cheng totaled three hits and two RBIs for the Gators (0-2, 1-4), while sophomore Raina Kapadia and freshman Elly An added three hits apiece.
