The Menlo boys’ tennis team has put together one of the best seasons in recent history as the Knights continue to add to the program’s legacy.
Menlo took on West Bay Athletic League rival, Harker, in the finals of the Central Coast Section team tournament, beating the Eagles 5-2 for the Knights’ second-straight section crown and 19th in school history at Bay Club Courtside in Los Gatos Friday afternoon.
And the season isn’t over for the 25-0 Knights. They open defense of their Northern California regional championship next week, with the aim of returning to the state final for the second year in a row.
Menlo punched their ticket to Friday’s final after sweeping past No. 4 Los Altos in Thursday’s semifinal match. Menlo’s three doubles teams — Arki Tensamani and Dylan Kothari, Miles Burnett and Sage Ash, and Maximus Chan and Alex Zhou — all won their matches in straight sets.

Menlo eliminated; SHP into sixth final in six years
The third-seeded Knights took on No. 2 St. Ignatius in a Division I semifinal match, with the Wildcats moving into the finals for the fifth straight year following a 16-10 victory.
Menlo (13-6) was down big at halftime, 13-3, but rallied in the second, outscoring SI (16-5) 7-3, but the deficit was too big to dig out of.
Elia Choe and Tate Goldman each notched hat tricks to lead Menlo offensively. Kaelee Wang had two goals, while Hannah Bernthal scored, had an assist and won seven faceoffs.
The Wildcats will meet top-seeded Sacred Heart Prep (19-0) in Saturday’s championship match. The Gators overwhelmed St. Francis (8-7) in the other Division I semifinal, 19-1.
The title game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Carlmont High School.
SI and the Gators have owned the CCS tournaments since the inception in 2021. SHP won the inaugural CCS title in 2021, but SI won the next three in a row — 2022, 2023 and 2024 — beating the Gators all three times.
2024 was the first year CCS was divided into two divisions. SHP won the Division I title last year and look to repeat this season.

SHP cruised to a 12-4 win San Jose Thursday over No. 6 Bellarmine (9-7), while SI handled No. 6 St. Francis (9-5), 15-6.
The Wildcats, the West Catholic Athletic League champs, beat the Gators 9-8 in their only meeting this season April 16. This will be the sixth straight season SHP and SI will battle for the CCS title. The Gators won the inaugural CCS title over the Wildcats in 2021, but SI beat SHP three years in a row from 2022 to 2024.
SHP finally got back on the winning side last year and will look to make it two in a row in 2026.

Aragon tops Carlmont to advance to first CCS final
The Dons and Scots finished the regular season as co-champions of the Peninsula Athletic League’s Bay Division.
But it is third-seeded Aragon that will play for its first-ever CCS Division I boys’ volleyball title after beating 2023 CCS Division II champ and second-seeded Carlmont in a three-game sweep — 26-24, 25-23, 25-13.
Aragon is just the second team from the PAL to advance to a boys’ volleyball title game.
Aragon (32-9) will take on No. 4 Mountain View (21-17) at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis High School-Mountain View for the Division I championship. The Spartans upset top-seeded Branham in a three-set sweep — 25-23, 25-15, 25-19.
It was the Dons’ second win in a row over Carlmont (29-8). The teams split their two regular-season matches, with the Scots earning the top seed out of the Bay Division by virtue of tiebreakers.
