Sebastian Garcia, Serra boys’ wrestling. The junior made program history at the Sierra Nevada Classic, topping the podium in the 165-pound division and being named Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament, the first Serra grappler ever to earn the honor. Garcia stormed the bracket, posting a 6-0 record by virtue of five pins and one tech fall. Garcia’s championship finish led the Padres to 12th place in the team element out of 96 schools, while junior Luke Hanna (sixth, 190s); junior Ryder Doleschal (seventh, 113s); and sophomore Luca Gordon (eighth, 106s) also finished on the podium.

Daniella Sierra, Hillsdale girls’ basketball. The senior post player was rebounding machine as the Knights went 1-1 last week. In a 60-57 overtime loss to Homestead, Sierra posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out in the fourth quarter. She came back two days later and grabbed 15 boards as the Knights cruised past Cupertino, 42-24.
