Editor,

In response to John Horgan’s recent column “Great Gatsby,” he profiles state Sen. Scott Wiener, D-San Francisco, as a bad guy.

Yes Rob, you just highlighted his real objective. Most of his over-the-top law making is designed to keep labor unions busy to the detriment of California citizens. Unnecessary walls around the Bay to forestall possible sea level rise in 2090, a train to nowhere in the Valley, and more housing construction with mandated union labor, all intended to keep his election potential high with union support. His elections to higher office have had unintended consequences.

Mr. Baxter, I believe you’re the one labeling Wiener “a bad guy” not Mr. Horgan. It seems to me that Mr. Horgan is pointing out Wiener is an annoying nanny-stater. And union labor built this country? Were the Chinese folks that helped to build railroads part of a union? Were slaves in a union? I’m pretty sure we can build anything without union labor.
