Editor,

To the extent politicians increase profligate spending for their own benefit, it increases inflation and decrease investments in our economy. This retards future economic growth and increases real taxes. The yearly interest on our national debt now exceeds our annual defense spending. This hurts the poor the most. The private sector is best at allocating money to investments to grow the economy, jobs and incomes — something government was never designed to do.

Unfortunately Mr. Kahl, voters get the government they deserve. You would think the poor being hurt the most would vote Republican but if they don’t, they’re getting their just desserts, so to speak. Fortunately for those of means currently living in California or other high tax states, they can move to fiscally managed states. And in the process, lower the number of national congressional seats and electoral votes from blue states.
