Mike Caggiano wrote an interesting but absurd letter the other day that would make Pollyanna blush. The idea that peace in the Middle East would be had if Israel returned to the pre-1967 armistices lines and allow a Palestinian state like the one next door in Gaza is asking Israel to commit national suicide.
The Arab League has had over 75 years to recognize Israel has the national home of the Jewish people and they have not. Why would they do it now? Because Caggiano says it is a good idea? Peace and stability will come to the Middle East when Israel; accepted by her Muslim neighbors and those living in Gaza and Judea and Samaria understand that terrorism will not bring them the state that they could have had years ago if they had not tried to destroy the Jewish state. Only if Israel feels secure discussions of a Palestinian state can take place. After what we have seen in Gaza after Israel withdrew every Jew from there it is unlikely that any Israeli government would vote for a Palestinian state on her borders.
Caggiano can offer his pipe dreams. but people who live in the region have a better grasp on reality than he does.
